Question about puppy papers----Update 4/12

Postby GreenheadJim » Thu Dec 26, 2013 7:41 pm

I bought a chocolate puppy from a guy about 4 weeks ago. At the time of purchase, the papers hadn't come in. His wife wrote a guarantee on the papers. I still haven't received his papers. I've tried calling several times, but no one answers. What steps do I need to take now?

I think your only recourse is through the breeder. To my knowledge (and I could be wrong) I think you need numbers on both parents to get them on your puppy. If you don't have them not sure that could could get them.

I have waited as long as 6-8 weeks for dog papers.

I would never take a puppy home without papers in hand. Or at least the AKC numbers of both parents. And thats only if I knew the breeder. Sounds like he may have needed to sell the puppies to pay for the expenses and stud fee. Can't get papers without the stud owners signature.

I wouldn't really worry about it very much. AKC can be super slow especially around the holidays. If you trusted them enough to buy a puppy from them I would cut them some slack and trust them a little bit. There is no real time press on getting the papers send off. If yo are super worried about it then you can call AKC and verify that the papers have been applied for by them.

I just got a call from another person who bought a puppy from the same guy. She hasn't gotten her papers either. She got my # from the man who owns the Sire. Come to find out, this person took 2 females to a breeder in TN and had them bred. He told the man in TN that one dog didn't take. When I picked up my puppy, there were 2 litters about 3 weeks apart. He hasn't paid the stud fee, therefore he can't get the pups registered. He doesn't know I know all of this and keeps assuring me he has sent off for them to AKC. He is giving me the runaround. Not sure what I need to do now. I might just go get my $750 out of his booty. Any advice?

......don't tell him you're coming - just show-up and put his asp on the spot. I hate a liar almost as bad as a thief.

I usually don't offer responses to stuff like this because there is almost always 2 sides to the story. But ti seems like a guy is pulling a scam.
Why not put his name out there for all to see????????

I found the actual add where they were advertising AKC Reg labs. Got me some ammo now
