I was just told something was out on my 20 year old heater ($900 to fix), and they suggested a new heater/AC system - 2.5 ton Carrier installed for $4500. Any thoughts on this/suggestions/other quotes?
Also, are there any remaining tax credits for these things?
Thanks.

Exactly what is wrong with your current unit?

Seems a little high from what I have heard other people pay. Of course it all depends on what unit you get as far as efficiency level to how much it would cost. I am pretty sure I have heard of other people getting that size for around 3k.

Call Southern Pipe and Supply - HVAC. Ask for Gary. He will have what you need. Tell him TJ sent you.

How old is your current unit? I am guessing it is R22 system?

Sorry missed the age in the original post.
So the a/c could go at any time and you're going to have to replace it with 410 system then. I would probably replace now before investing $1k in an obsolete system .
