Re: UTV Question ASK DS
I've played around on the 2013 Gator (crew cabs) and I really like them! The hydraulic bed on ours at work is pretty slick, you can raise and lower the bed with the push of a button. It also has a good bit of storage on the bike which is nice. They are very "roomy" and comfortable. The motors are strong and it's a really smooth ride as well. They are pretty expensive is the only downside (granted I haven't priced comparable Ranger Crew Cabs).
I own a 2013 Ranger 800 Midsize and like it. I bought the midsize because we have a lot of CRP and it's just easier to maneuver through the tight spaces. It's been a good bike so far. It lacks a little on storage (but it is a midsize so that's somewhat expected). I didn't buy it to put a lift/big tires and go ride it every weekend in the mud or anything. Bought it for hunting and piddling around on the farm so it serves it's purpose well.

Re: UTV Question ASK DS
I have the JD 825 as my work cart, its loud especially for a golf course setting but I will say that it will haul one heck of a load and is a very smooth ride but it sounds like a race car on a dirt track
Life is to short to only fish on weekends
Re: UTV Question ASK DS
Ive got a ranger 500. Liked it until my patnah got a 900 browning edition a few weeks ago. Man it is a beast. Think it set him back about 17K with tires and all. Really, really nice. Will go down all the same trails as my 500 as far as width and is way quieter. Really nice machine.
Re: UTV Question ASK DS
Talked to the service manager at MS AG in YAHOO City, he said they are awesome machines only if you tear down and reseal the entire belt housing from the back all the way out and snorkle the belt housing.. He also said that would be the only way i could run it the rice fields. JD will not pay for the modification to the housing. Looking more like its gonna be between the Ranger and the Honda...
Re: UTV Question ASK DS
Had a 05' 660Rhino, 10' 800 ranger, 11' 1000X commander , new 900 ranger & now in a maverick.
So i have just a little experience with what you are looking at.
The new 900 ranger is light yrs ahead of the 800 ranger.
In the 800 you can't talk to your passenger & your butt gets hot, both of these were fixed in the 900.
The low end grunt of the 900 in alot better than the 800. The fit & finish has improved alot from the 800 to the 900 too.
The Prostar 900 is a very good engine that polaris came out with.
You need to seal up the & keep a watch on the air filter on the 900. The 900 ranger & rzrs both use the same filter housing & are know for letting dirt into them.
Here's what my 900 looked like. If you have any more questions ask away.

Re: UTV Question ASK DS
A buddy here at work has the commander. He has had nothing but praise for it. It will fly, turns on a dime, rides very well, and isn't really loud. I
ll think twice about riding with him hog hunting again though. He scared the crap out of me a time or two making 90 degree turns at 20mph.
He bought it at "Olive Branch Suzuki, Yamaha, Polaris & Can-Am" same dealer as Desoto Honda.
I think the only draw back was he had to take it back to them for a factory oil change after 15 hours, or the warranty wasn't good. I may be wrong on that, but thats how I remember it.
I'll ask for more info if you want specifics.

Re: UTV Question ASK DS
I've got a 2013 800XP Crew Ranger, it's a beast. I put some 27" Swamp lite tires on it (not the best by far but they'll get with it) and I used it in flooded timber and swamp all last season and it worked like a champ. I snorkeled mine "just in case". I'm 300+, and would regularly haul 4 other guys, dog, guns, gear etc through flooded timber and it did great. I've never gotten it past 25mph, don't see the need, it'll go close to 50 supposedly.

I've got a '14 commander 1000 and love it. Only downfall is it's only a 2 seater. Has a console in the middle. I don't joy ride much and use mine strictly for hunting. I've been very impressed with the bike so far and it will haul tail if you need it too
