Still Waiting On My First Open Carry Sighting

Postby booger » Fri Sep 06, 2013 3:57 pm

For work I travel through a four county area weekly, thus I was certain that I would encounter an open carry fellar here or there, rural or city.

But nope not at all, not even on my limited trips while off work. While "No Guns" signs are a common sight now, I have yet to see anyone open carry anywhere.

What about ya'll?

On I 10 around the Ocean Springs exit east bound, a motorcyclist whipped by us going to work in a Gov. van. The cook sitting next to me(a brother) said, "You see that! That dude has a gun on his belt!" To which I replied,"You in Mississippi now brother. We have open carry." The cook is from Millington, TN. Do not think he liked it too much but I told him I would rather see it and know than the concealed one on a guy up to no good!

We allow open carry in our store and I have not seen anyone doing it yet.

There's a kid workin in the liquor store next to Kroger. He's packin. It looks kinda ridiculous for the area and demographic that visits that business.

I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

have not seen it.. This panned out just as all us instructors said it would.. No real change other than lots of signs, signs, signs and now you will need the Enhanced Carry Permit to carry in almost anyplace..

What exactly are the consequences for a person (carrying concealed) entering a business with a "No Firearms Sign" and being caught with said firearm? What are the charges? I realize that this is an unlikely scenario if its concealed correctly.

If I CC'd everyday, I think I would ignore all of those private business signs. Take my chances. Meaning the ONLY way they'd know I was armed is after I've defended my life with the gun as a last resort.

I wonder what percentage of CCer's are actually "Ignoring the Signs" these days?
