Wooden porch chairs

Postby teul2 » Tue May 21, 2013 10:11 pm

Looking for suggestions for some new chairs for the front porch. Adirondack, rockers, what ever, just some thing comfortable and attractive.
Ideas?

Best of both worlds. Adirondack rockers! If you can find some they're the way to go. Amazingly comfortable.

I have a customer in Starkville that builds the best looking, most comfortable Adirondack chairs and rockers that I have ever seen. Mr. Buck Swain is in his early 90's and still going strong. He doesn't cut and corners and his craftsmanship is better than anything else I have seen. I think his Rockers are 175 and his chairs are 150, but I could be wrong. I know he has several MSU students working directly under him learning his trade. He doesn't have a website but does have an email that he checks regularly.

My father-in-law makes Adirondack rockers and chairs. Let me know if you would like his number.

The Amish make some pretty good ones too. If you have a community close by that may be worth looking into.

Tuel will be in Starkville next Tuesday or Wednesday and can bring them back to Jackson if he has any made up. Just an FYI

if you have any interest in going in a different direction, look into a company called Poly Concepts, out of Ohio. They make very high quality outdoor furniture that looks like wood, but is some heavy duty poly material. From ten feet away their rocker looks like classic rocker, and it is quite comfortable, but it never needs pain. I have some at a house on the beach and it is bullet proof. Some folks prefer real wood, and to each his own, just offering an option that has given me several years of good service.
