OT- Pre-Owned Rolex

Postby skywalker » Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:34 pm

Anyone purchased a certified Rolex? Who did you buy from, what model? Looking at a Submariner and Explorer II.

Thoughts?

skywalker,

Can't be of much help on the buying end, but I inherited a GMT Master and had it brought back to spec up here. Love the watch enough I wish I'd done without some things years ago to buy one for myself. You're also right about your son. Mine came to me from my father. Having his guns and etc. is great, but wearing his watch every day is even better.

My dad had a Submariner for twenty years now my little brother has it. It's worth it.

I treasure my grandfather's. I'm pretty rough on watches though so I don't wear it much. It stays in the safe. I really need to get a winding box for it.

Yeah, just thinking ahead, down the road to pass along, if the good Lord allows. I figure a $4-5K investment now will pay some dividends later on down the line.

thanks fellas.

Hey Landscaper, get it out and wear it !

My father gave me a Submariner when I graduated from college 30 years ago this August, and it has been on my wrist every day since. I'm in the construction business, so I can be kinda hard on them too, but it can take whatever you dish out to it.

Zeetan at CollectorsTime.com is great to deal with if you can get over the fact that he's in Malaysia. He deals in NIB and used watches and has prices ~10-20% less than you can find state side.

Bought my wife's Cartier from him and will buy my IWC Portuguese from him once I save up enough.

Here is another thought..........I have done this as well..........Take a cruise out of NOLA.
Cheap stateroom for two can go for under 500.00

Rolex's are now pretty regulated, in fact, all luxury watches are, so you can expect a 20% discount and NO TAXES.
So a Submariner can go for new 7500. here.......save 10 on taxes and 20 on the watch.........you can go on a cruise, spend the day on a island.......and still save money.

Guys literally line up at the Rolex place in Cozumel......they have the model picked out stateside and have a price in hand and save the bones.
