qwerstion:

Postby GulfCoast » Tue Dec 18, 2012 9:41 am

I have a TriTonics ecollar reciever that just all of a sudden "won't come on." It is fully charged, but will not "beep" or activate. Is there any quick fix or check I need to do before I send it to TriTronics?

Good question GC! My collar has recently started doing the same thing. It's fully charged and will come on and work for a few minutes, but then the light will quit blinking and stay on all the time. I'm thinking my battery has gone bad. Don't knoe for sure though.

as in, you see the "powered on" LED light, but can't get a buzz through the contact points?

you will probally need to send receiver back and get a new one. They should cut you a deal if its not over 5 years old.

Not meaning this in a bad way but if your model is a G3 then maybe check that you have the correct position selected on your toggle. (I only say this from personal experience  ) Also if it is a G3 you can try to reprogram it with the transmitter. (Also from...well you know).

Hi.You can try to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, replace it and re pair it with the transmitter. They are also going to tell you to leave on the charger at all times when not in use. The green lights do not mean the units are fully charged. I just went through all this .

What model/year is it? I know that older models had to be charged/used every two months or they would lose their memory. My old Flyway TriTronics did this on me while I was in Iraq. I had to send mine off to Collar Clinic. Yours may not be this old though.

if i'm understanding your problem correctly, I had an older tritronics G3 do something similar a couple of months ago. Collar and transmitter were both fully charged, and would either would not come on at all come on when activated or would come on but would not respond when the button was pushed or, like greencaps stated, would quit blinking and stay on, but without a pulse going thru it.

Finally figured out (quite by accident) that the problem was in the transmitter, not the collar. underneath the 'warning' beep button, a couple of the contacts had somehow gotten close together and were shorting out. I had taken the cap off the top end of the transmitter because the warning button had all of a sudden gotten slow to spring back up when pushed. apparently the spring had gotten jarred around and had caused the contacts to touch and caused the short. One thing, if you do take it apart, be careful that the tiny spring for the warning button doesn't pop out on you; I almost lost mine. Easy fix if that is the problem. hope this helps. Good luck.
