What dog food????

Postby GET-N-RITE » Tue Oct 30, 2012 7:00 am

Been feeding eukanuba. They have changed something in the mix and it has my dog all messed up. Talked to a trainer that feeds it and his dogs are also reacting to it. I need another good brand of food that you all are feeding.

I have switched mine to Native Level 3. It seems to be fine so far. Good stool and it breaks up quickly.

Exclusive. High protein stuff, and it doesn't take much of it to maintain weight.

I started feeding PMI High Pro, then switched to Eukanuba . My dog got to where it would barely eat the Eukanuba I think they changed something. I have now switched to Blue Buffalo chicken and wild rice. It cost more than the other 2 and only comes in a 30 lbs bag but I think it is worth it and here is why. I feed 1 cup less than I did with the other 2 and he maintains the same weight. He seems to have gained endurance. His coat looks like he has been dipped in a bucket of oil. And he loves the food. I have not done the math but I am pretty sure that I am getting close to the same amount of days from a bag of BB that I was the other 2.

I had the same thing happen to my dogs. I usually buy my food at TSC (tractor supply co.) and they sell their own brand of 30/20 dog food called "4-Health". It has worked well with my dogs and is a little lighter on the wallet. The 30/20 is called "4-Health Performance" or something like that. Its only $30 for 40 pound bag.

I feed Purina Pro Plan Performance. Seems a bit expensive but I only feed two cups per day per dog. My dogs do very well with this feed and since it allows me to feed such a small quantity, the expense is not as bad as it might seem.

DBoe, TSC 4 Health is a good food and compares well with Exclusive or Pro Plan but watch the Recalls, it was involved in the Diamond recall back in June.

What kind of recall was it? What was the food doing to the dogs? Send me a pm if you want. Would just like to know what all was involved in the recall if you know. Thanks

There is a link to the recalls, I believe it was for Salmonella.

I always fed Euk until it got harder and harder to get. I now feed Loyal Active or Pro depending on the time of the year/training.
