Dakota Decoys

I was looking at the Macks catalog earlier and the Dakota Decoys look like real ducks. They are high as giraffe poontang. Anybody got them? Are they worth it?

I have 5 dozen. You can't beat the realism or design. The only issue is the fading of the flocked heads. They won't last long in a rice field.

I haven't done that yet. They can also be repainted.

FLOCK that! I mean them, re-flock them?

Do you think the flocking is worth the coin? Just can't justify that cost for the longevity of the product with my track record on decoys.

They look dam good!!! But if ya like me It's hard to pay that kind of money for something I know I'm going to have tore up in a yr bc of the way I hunt.

I have about 5 dozen of their geese, and 3 dozen of their ducks. I found the ducks for 129 last year and should have bought a lot more. Anyway I'm hell on them and they have held up. Anything flocked will get nicked up but it's part of it. Least with these decoys they come with both flocked and painted heads.

you can get them without the flocked heads I think. Not quite as good looking, but probably a little more durable.

They are tough and durable; I think the painted heads look really good if not better...I had a club member back over a dozen and it only broke 2 decoys and 2 heads....I was impressed with that

Bold question to those using ~$280 a dozen decoys....are you killing more ducks as a result of the decoys? If so, is there a noticeable difference in birds decoying and kills over less expensive decoys?

I don't know. Mine were free.

Mmm I tell ya, in the brakes, thicket and timber, it's hard to beat a $20 jerk string and half a dozen Cherokee inflatables.

To me, being hidden is the be-all-end-all of coming home with meat and not. You can buy $2000 guns, $20,000 boats, $300 decoys, $1000 dogs, cases of hevi-shot, the technologically advanced camo, the mojo timers, the plastic corn...you can even be on the "x". But if you do all this and go into a spot half-ass hidden, moving around, looking up- you have spent thousands for nothing.

Notice I didn't say calls. In the timber, I don't feel like decoys are a "must have", depending on the timber type. Good calling comes after being hid.

No way I am paying that for a decoy. This is coming from a guy who owns a Yeti with pride too, though.

By the time they get close enough to decide whether my decoys are Dakota or Flambeau we are usually knocking 'em down.
