First heat cycle after pups?

Came home to some blood on Monday. I'm not breeding again, but wondered what the "normal" time frame is for the first heat cycle after a litter. I know it's a dog and normal isn't always constant. Just wanting some experiences of others info? My dog had pups on may 5. On September 9 she began bleeding. 4 months sound right?

Mine went into heat on Aug 31 and she had puppies in late April. She is 7 years old and for the last 5 years she has been in heat the openning weekend of dove season. I was hoping that having puppies would throw her off a little.

6 months from previous heat cycle, having the litter usually doesn't effect time frame much if the dog is regular in cycling.

Your math is a little off. Remember she carried those puppies for 60 days so add that back and now you are back on 6 month schedule. No worries just Mother Nature doing her thang. t

i'd just always heard of pups throwing heat cycles off. It did a little because this is later than normal for her heat cycle. Dog's progesterone didn't get right until 23 days after 1st blood. crazy a** hound.

I am sure it does in most cases. There are also other variables that throw off heat cycles as well ie stress, training and overall health and age. Daisee heat cycles were all over the map from 5-7 months and for a couple of years it was whenever the Grand set their dates and became very frustrating.
