I am wanting to start getting some good pictures of hunting and fishing trips.
Can anyone recommend a good setup that's not outrageous on price for a beginner.
Anyone have anything they want to get rid of?
Thanks for any help

It all just depends on what kind of pictures you plan to take and what you plan to do with them.
For shots around the camp and in the blind, etc that you plan to store on your computer or have small prints made from for an album this isn't a bad option for starters.

It is still basically a point and shoot but offers most of the same controls you'll find on a DSLR.
I haven't actually used any of the Nikon Coolpix camera but have seen some shots taken with them and the colors are amazing.
If you're going to be taking a lot action shots, or portraits, or anything else you may want to make larger prints of you may want to look into a DSLR. You can't go wrong with any of the Canon or Nikon "prosumer" models. Start out with one that comes with a "kit" lens and upgrade your glass later as you skill and needs change.
Cameras are basically all capable of capturing good images. What really makes good quality shots is the experience and creativity of the photographer on the back side of the camera and the quality of the glass on the front.

A friend of mine has a d200 with extra battery pack and a grip that lets the camera swivel with dual shutter buttons for 600.00.
Is this a decent deal? Anything he owns will be in like new condition.

Sounds about right if his includes a lens. Maybe a little high for the body only. Battery grip might ought to be a "gimme".
