Prayers for Lecile

Postby The Rancher » Wed Aug 08, 2012 9:23 am

Back in May I had to put my 12 year old Lab Cody down, I would like to thank everyone on here for your thoughts, kind words, and your prayers. I’m asking everyone to step up to the plate again.
Our 9 year old Lab Lecile (Named after world famous rodeo clown Lecile Harris) was struck Monday by a snake, the fang marks were an inch apart, therefore a large snake. He has not eaten in the past day and a half. This morning I paid him a visit, the veterinarian informed me that we were not gaining ground, the swelling has spread along his belly, and his age is not in our favor.
Dr. Tol Berryhill and Dr. Lester Spell are doing their best to beat the odds, I think we can will. I truly cannot fathom placing two of my best dogs to rest in less than 4 months. Thoughts and prayers for the veterinarians as they make the right decisions.

Age in dogs is definately a factor! I almost lost my 15 yr old female lab (Fudge) to a cotton mouth last month... Popped her on the back side of her front leg. We didn't notice anything till the next morning and saw her ankle was swollen the size of an apple. She was moping around and we hauld her to the vet. While she was there, she collapsed right in front of me and the vet had to do doggy cpr on her. Vet says through the day her heart ended up stopping twice. But, thanks the lord, the old girl pulled through!!! It's tough, I know...

Prayers are definately sent your way!

I grew not far from Mr Harris and graduated with his grandson. I'd like to hear what he'd come up with if he heard about a dog named after him.

Glad your pup is makin progress.
