Yet another reason you should CCW at all times, whenever possible...

+1. The guy did have a bullet proof vest on and he threw some type of smoke cannister so it would have been tuff as hell to combat but tis better to be armed than not

Just saw this on the news. The real issue here is.. " What the hell is wrong with people?" This kind of crap is happening with such frequency these days. Sad, disgusting, terrifying. So many things wrong with the world today. Keep the victims in your prayers, and pray also for this insanity to stop.

get ready for the gun control talk to resume.

I heard about this shooting this AM on the radio and the national talk show host were all talking about the need for gun control. These people have not figured out that Gun Control Laws will only hinder law abiding citizens. They will do nothing to stop the criminals and the crazies.

Ok, I know this crap is happening everywhere nowadays, but you'd think that the people of Colorado would have a better handle on this, being as Arora is so close to Columbine. I don't have the answers to this problem, but I know who does. Prayers for the families.

abc has issued a "correction" already...the report they issued that the suspect was a member of the tea party, is incorrect...he is indeed NOT the same james holmes as the suspect in custody for the shooting.
Experience is a freakin' awesome teacher...

I know we have some CCW'ers on here. What do you think would be your reaction in this instance? Do you think you are trained well enough to be able to respond to this situation?

How do you think the darkness/dimness and tear gas would affect you?

I would think it would be extremely difficult to react, given the darkness, tear gas and sheer pandemonium going on.

Thoughts?

I'm all about our right and duty to defend ourselves and, by extension, defenseless folks, but in that particular situation, it's hard to see how more bullets flying around would be good. A CCW man would have to be lucky as far as location near the crazy to do much good. But, there's a sense of security when you have the means to respond handy. Tough call.

You are 100% correct. You neve hear about shootings at a firing range or hunting camps where you know people will have guns.
