Staff infection on a Lab

Postby DeltaCotton12 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 8:08 pm

Anyone had a dog with it? My girl is some kinda miserable. Started out on her lower stomach then worked to her sternum. Next it was in the webs of her feet. Swelling and flaking. Constant licking and tender feet. Get her to the vet for diagnostic. He gave us meds and some type of shampoo. He said it looks like a contact infection rather than an inhaled infection. Food allergy has been ruled out.

To top it off, she is in heat....... Poor gal..

No fun man. I've gone through it with Kate and have seen plenty of dogs with it. Most commonly a secondary infection after itching due to contact or flea allergy.

The vet explained that there was no way to prevent it, only maintain/treat it.
