Am helping my son train his 9 week old lab. What are some good ways to introduce the pup to birds? What should we start with first....feathers? fresh killed? clipped pigeon? Also, where can I find a few birds in the Memphis area besides the homeless underpasses? Thanks.

9 week old....let him chew, roll, mouth a wing. For a few mins at time then put it away. Don't want to start a feather/chewing habit so to speak. I got a 11 week old that's walking around with a hen spoon in his mouth when I let him. He gets out of the box looking for it.

It's a fleamarket....just have to negotiate with the farmers. I'll be there looking for a few pigeons for my puppy.

Flea market ducks (don't get muscovies or roans) are usually $12-15 dollars. Pigeons are $8 or $10 down here, if you can find them. If you want unlimited pigeons, spend $30 on a pigeon trap. Don't tell a savvy farmer you want them for dog training, or the price will go up, and hippiechick might not sell 'em to you.
