Pool Filter - Cartridge vs Sand

Postby kb7722 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:27 am

Anybody have any experience with the two? Have a 30,000 gal pool with a busted 24" sand filter and am considering going to a cartridge filter. Pros & Cons?

Keep the sand filter. You will be just like me...so tired of buying cartridges i could puke. Every time it rain my PH get out of wack and my filter turns green and the pump won't pump through it. You can bak wash it all you want but it doesn't help

^^ water is silky and doesn't burn your eyes or have the chlorine smell left in trunks/towels.

stabilizer (cyanuric acid) once a year and generic liquid bleach for shock...we don't have a heavy kid load in our ool (no P to deplete chlorine as quickly).
