Ask DS: Phone interview tips
I've got a phone interview today for a marketing position I've applied for and I'd love any good tips, especially from an interviewer's perspective. From some reason I feel much more confident in person than over the phone. Maybe that's because my voice sounds like Larry the Cable Guy.

Re: Ask DS: Phone interview tips
The phone interview is so that they can see that you sound educated, know the lingo, and really do fit the bill as to the experience that the job entails. If you pass that test, you will then be caled in for a face to face interview to tell them about who you are and your personalitiy. Every phone interview that I have had was not about me personally, but what my past experiences were and if I had ever done the requirements for the job applying for. So, I would say, be sure you know as mch as you can about the job description for the new job.
This has been my experience.
Good Luck.

Nobody owes you anything.
Re: Ask DS: Phone interview tips
One thing that I was told by several people when I was interviewing was to dress the part even for phone interview. The idea being its a mental thing. If you dress professionally, you feel professional and thus sound professional.
I never had a real phone interview so I don't really know if it works.

[quote="wingman21"][quote="HeKing"] if there are multiple interviewers write their names down when they introduce themselves and use their names.

Thanks for all the tips! The interview went well enough for them to invite me in for a face to face on Tuesday. So we'll see what happens. One thing is for sure, searching for a career can be an emotional roller coaster ride, especially when you have a family.

Re: Ask DS: Phone interview tips
I took a 2 hour Phone interview to work at the VA hospital. Toughest interview I've ever had. Of course, I was applying for a Technical position and the questions were very detailed technical questions...I guess that's why is was to tough..
Good Luck to you..
