Highschool Biology

Postby JDgator » Thu May 24, 2012 3:07 pm

When I was in Biology we dissected fetal pigs which were pickled in formaldehyde. I have fond memories of the girlies freaking out when when we really dug into them. I remember thinking about everything in relation to all the deer and hogs I'd cleaned in my young hunting career. But that was 14 years ago. Do they still let high schoolers chop up euthanized animals?

I think they are given the option to opt out in Tupelo. At least that's what I think I remember when my oldest went through a few years ago.

My Highschool was cheap. We couldn't even afford a worm to disect. And I was so looking forward to cutting into some serious roadkill in Clarksdale. 8)

My kid cut up a frog this year in the 9th grade...said it was "cool"

In my day we did a frog, worm, crawfish and a baby pig...I did not think it was cool, I thought they smelled funny

My biology teacher hit a coyote on the way to school one morning and threw it in the back of the truck and brought it for us to dissect. Pretty cool. Of course he was a real good guy who I hunted and fished with at times. That was 30 years ago though and today he'd probably get in trouble for it. It was at a private school though so maybe not so much as if it was in a public school.
