If you have the powder already, then those cold packs from Walgreens is all you need. Unless you want to make big boom!

I would be carefull about surfing the net looking ied's. There some guys at the fire marshals office doing research for a class got called into the bosses office after he got a call from the ATF wanting to know what they were doing on the websites in question.
I would be careful about what you say and where u go.

One could use 1/2 pounders and tape them "in-line" for desired charge. I have never experienced taping up more than three (1.5 pound total) but theoretically it would be unlimited. Tape them in-line, then cram 'em as deep as you can and still see the top target to shoot, (for debris removal).
For pyrotechnic smoke effect, tape a baggie of anti-freeze and a baggie of flour around a pounder.
One pound will peel a smoker inside out and launch the dome lid into orbit. Invert bottom pan and open the little door, it's just right. Old clothes dryers are good too. Launching old vacuum cleaners is always fun.
Sealed containers (never glass) of petroleum distillate, road flares, etc. Fun but stay at a safe distance and don't burn the place up.
I personally wouldn't chase the various ingredients, I would just use the "Tannerite" brand name mix.
The going price is $85 for twenty 1/2 pounders.
(Disclaimer - boog sez - Kids don't try this at home)

Re: Blowing some beaver dams and gonna use some tannerite.
Boog.....we need to hang out and pop some cold brews...I think we would get along just fine
Re: Blowing some beaver dams and gonna use some tannerite.
Yeah, for sure. We get bored out here. Hold my beer and watch this.
It all started with an annual appliance shoot. That was fun for a few years, then we needed to add some sizzle.
Oh yeah, this is another good'un
Slice the top of an old decoy, put in a pounder, set the decoy in the water (with weight attached of course), set it as far out as you can and still see it, have the brew crew take one shot each until kaboom. Or............ ready-aim-fire everybody unloads. Hell of a water spout/depth charge.

Re: Blowing some beaver dams and gonna use some tannerite.
I was told the CO-OP in Canton sells Tannerite.
We've used a length of 6 inch diameter PVC in the past. Capped off on the bottom, and reducer with a short piece of PVC capped off at the top. Sink the main 6 inch deep in the dam/ground and leave the reducer/short piece exposed to shoot at. When you're done assembling it, it kind of looks like a smart bomb. Fill the open vessel through the reducer, cap, bury, shoot, run for cover!!!!
Making a large bomb like this is very effective on a beaver dam. We tossed a smaller 4 inch diameter bomb like this inside the (low water) exposed opening of a beaver hut that was occupied at the time. One liners from the movie Caddyshak could not come fast enough.
"Don't mind these wires Mr. Beaver, it's doctors orders" (apologies to Bill Murray) That was about a ten pound bomb, and it completely leveled the beaver hut.
(don't quote me on this, but I think you are able to set off up to 50 lbs at a time, and you may not transport the two components mixed together.)

Gary's in Columbus sells it now, expensive though. Just go to website if you really want to play.

Re: Blowing some beaver dams and gonna use some tannerite.
I am familiar with the tannerite but have not used it.
What do the cold packs do? Is that just one of the ingredients of "homemade tannerite" along the aluminum powder.
Boog, can I come play at your house
