Flat screen TV
Flat screen TV
In the market for a 46" flat screen. Which ones are good? Looking for something with good picture & sound quality, but not looking to break the bank, nothing over $1500. I have one flat screen and 3 old tube tv's in my house now, so I'm not exactly up to date in the TV world.

Samsung and Panasonic are usually good choices. There are so many out there now it is hard to choose. Go to Sams or Best buy and you can compare side by side picture quality.

If he room isn't bright (lots of direct sunlight with no window covers), consider a plasma. You can literally get upwards of a 52" for the same price you'd pay for a 46" LCD. Color will be richer with plasma too. Plasma technology has come along way since the early days. No image burn in, no excess heat coming from the display, etc.

Re: Flat screen TV
Just realize that all of them have crappy audio, and budget $200 more for a wally-world surround-sound system with DVD changer. Mine is a cheapo Panasonic and will run you out of the room and rattle the glass with that 10" woofer.
you did put in the plug, right?
Re: Flat screen TV
If you are checking out several different models in the store, make sure you reset all the settings. A lot of places will change the settings to look better in the store.
Re: Flat screen TV
The one we have in our bedroom is a Samsung. Good picture, but the speakers went out and I had to pay $100 to fix em. I want a 46", can't fit any bigger than that where I'm putting it. Been looking at Sony as well.

Samsung LED and get a soundbar to go with it. Soundbars are easy to set up and you can get the ones that you do not need a receiver to run it through it will hook up staight to the tv. Beats having to run all that wire and installing a surround sound.

Re: Flat screen TV
Don't waste your money on a sound bar. Our 40" tv in the bedroom has plenty of sound for just watching tv and in your case probably a lot of disney channel.

Re: Flat screen TV
I bought a 42" Samsung LCD about 3 years ago. It took a dump on me about a month ago, totally a piece of chit. Unlike the majority of people on here, I would not recommend a Samsung based on my experience
