Low Country Longbeards

Postby The Waterfowler » Thu Apr 05, 2012 12:00 pm

An amazing trip just completed by four of us to South Carolina. I've had hunts like this with Rios but never Easterns. We tagged 18 Longbeards in 3 and a half days and had some incredible experiences that always goes with hunting turkeys. I had one bird run through the middle of 5 Jakes and hit my decoy before I could shoot him for my first bird of the trip. My second came on a dead run down a sandy road in the pines and by the time I could put my slate down and get my gun up he stopped rolling at my feet. But the neatest encounter was with Patrick's last bird. He called up 3 Longbeards, filled his last tag and watched one fly off while one stayed around. Anyone that has ever turkey hunted much knows what happened next as the survivor pecked, kicked and did un-natural acts for over 45 minutes. I was able to get to Stephen where he was and he got behind Patrick and crawled up to him and the results were positive.

This ended our hunt as we had a ten hour drive ahead of us.

Happy for you then. Don't find many blinds that kill over 3000 birds.

Thats an awesome hunt right there. Congrats to all the hunters. What were the sizes of the birds, the one on the far left of the tailgate has a rope. what few spurs you can see are nice too.
