Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

I'm no stockbroker or financial wizard, but, I do remember what my Finance and Insurance Profs told me in school. Per them life insurance IS NOT an investment vehicle. Buy term life to cover what needs to be covered and be done with it. The stock market over the long haul historically returns 7-8%. Yes, it will have ups and downs but investing is a long term situation. If a person is going to look at the stock prices everyday and start chasing the next big thing they can expect to lose money more than make. Diversify to minimize risk. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. And as one ages switch from a portfolio weighted in stock to one weighted in long term bonds with guaranteed and insured returns. My finance prof told us that the tortoise wins the race. At least that's what I learned 25 years ago from Prof. King at USM.

I will say this. If a person is not diversified and does not have an education in finance then they are much more susceptible to someone like Bernie Madoff or Stanford. If someone can't read the companies financial statements and understand them then they have no business investing without expert help. Another quote from my accounting prof at USM was, "show me someone who can calculate financial ratios and I'll show you someone making $20-$25K per year. Show me someone who know what to do with those ratios and how to change them and I'll show you a CEO or CFO making a Hell of a lot more."

These are just my opinions. Your mileage may vary. Know warranties expressed or implied. I don't know chit and if you are following me then you are lost as a goose. Brush your teeth before bed. Use deodorant. Live long and prosper.
