Where were you 8 years ago?
Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was in the middle of a military exercise, when it came over the radio for everyone to return back to the primary duty stations. We had the base on lock down for about a month. Everyone was in shock at first then we realized that we had a lot of work ahead of us. We were put on 24 hour shifts putting up new barriers around the base, building new control points, and it was the start of higher security on the base that is still there today. I can remember that the town of Wichita Kansas became so patriotic and I actually felt real good about being in the Military there. Then about a month or 2 later we had protesters at every corner of the base, it was like it didn't take people long to forget about what had just happened on our on soil.
Who ever said winning isn't everything has never really won.

Just walked into 3rd period Economics my senior year of high school. My teacher who was also our head football coach and a former Air Force pilot was staring up at the TV with a very concerned and confused look on his face. For that man looked worried or uncomfortable I knew something had to be wrong.
I'll never forget it.
I'll never forget it.

I was home sick and watched it on TV all day. I was standing by my pool table when my mom came in and told me to turn the TV on. Watched the 2nd plane hit. Mom was freaked out because a friend of our families owned the gas station across very close to the Pentagon.

Re: Where were you 8 years ago?
I was just leaving my trailer to walk across the driveway to the office (my grandfathers old house) when I heard on Fox that the 1st plane hit the tower. Dad and I stayed and watched and saw the 2nd plane hit. After watching the news for a long while, we went over to the office, but we didn't get any work done. The TV was better at my trailer, so we pretty much spent the rest of the day there.
Nobody owes you anything.

I was at home on my days off. Wife called and woke me up to tell me the news. Watched tv most of the day. Will never forget it, but also it is the day before my birthday.

I was traveling on business, but opted to drive that go round' Sure had the family worried, as only the wife and kids knew that I drove instead of flying. God Bless our nation and all those that lost family and friends in those tragic events.

I was doing surgery in the OR at the Birmingham VA during my residency. I have never seen a place go into chaos like the VA. We cancelled all of the surgeries for the rest of the day, and the Hospital was on high alert. I also remember that I had to fly to Boston 1or 2 weeks later for an interview. Needless to say, that was a very nervous flight. I cant believe 8 years has already gone by.

i had tried goose hunting with my bow that morning and had a very close miss. So I decided to go watch the video of the goose ducking my arrrow, after watching I turned the VCR of and witnessed the 2nd plane hitting at first thought was a major error in flight but soon realized America had been violated
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

I drove by the Pentagon at 7:30 am to my office in the Rayburn House Office Building next to the Capitol. Got to work in time to see the second plane hit the World Trade Center. We were evacuated shortly after the plane hit the second tower. DC was on lock down so I had to hang out in town until about 6 that afternoon. Drove by the Pentagon on my way home and the place was still smoldering. I remember there were armed military folks on the street corners for several weeks. After things started to settle down a few weeks later we had to dodge anthrax. It was crazy up there for a while.

I remember the morning well! I was in a Cesna flying up to Flippin AR for a meeting. When I tried to contact Little Rock for cleareance to ferry thru, Memphis Center came on and orderd us to return to the air base at Pine Bluff. We were escorted in by 2 F16's. Upon landing we were met by an armed military detail. Not a good day to be in the air for sure! We had taken off from a private strip and had no idea what was going on till they shut down all airspace. It was a very nervous time for me anyhow!

No that was an ag pilot over at Glen Allen. Yes he got an escort and grounded for a while. He was told not to go back in the air but did anyway. We did have to leave the plane in Pine Bluff for 5 days though. We didn't get in any trouble, just kinda a harrowing experience though.
