Building a house... Builder vs sub it urself

I appreciate all the information also. I haven't ruled out doing it myself but I think I'm going to go the contractor route. I did trim carpentry all through college and the person I worked for has grown his business into a full fledge construction company now. He's been building custom houses in some nice neighborhoods in Oxford and I think we are going to work together on it. I will probably go the cost + method. That way I'm still part of the process but he gets to handle some/most of the headaches. I appreciate all the feedback!
