Thunder struck..

Postby H20 Fowl » Mon Mar 18, 2013 11:35 am

Headed out this morning around 9 after I got off work. I thought the rain had passed and I knew a spot that usually produces after a rain! I got to the gate at 9:15 and headed out even though the sky was getting darker by the minute. When I got close to the spot I wanted to set up a clap of thunder off in the distance was followed by some gobbling thunder! I set up quick and let out a series of yelps. He came running and I stopped him with some cuts! He gobbled 3 times back to back. It was 9:26 when I was standing on his head!

Don't know about showing you how it's done, but you know there is an open spot anytime you're ready!

Heck yeah!!! I want some of that stuff you doing. It's working out for you for sure. Congrats on a good hunt and bird. Get that third one out of the way and I'll let you call for me!

Out of curiosity, what type of place do you say "Produces after a rain?" Food plot???

Not a food plot. It's a small clearing (probably 30yds X 60yds) that is on top of a really tall ridge surrounded by hardwoods. This is the 4th bird in as many years I've killed off that spot. All after a rain had just stopped!

I figured an open-spot of some sort as they do like to dry out following a rain and can't say I blame 'em. Great bird and thanks for sharing.
