New Graduate, Jobs in the Ag Sector

Postby Side Kick » Thu Feb 14, 2013 3:42 pm

I'm graduating from Auburn in the Fall with a degree in Agriculture Economics and Business. I'm looking to move west for a while. Any of you guys know of any companies that may be hiring for a full time position or an internship? Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, etc... Open to pretty much anything, however I'd like to stay within the agriculture sector.

Check with Sanders, formerly known as Jimmy Sanders, Inc. I worked there for 5 years before leaving to begin farming on my own. Great experience and they have stores in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Their head office is in Cleveland Mississippi.

You may want to go to the Midsouth Farm and Gin Show in Memphis in a few weeks and visit them all. Cant hurt.

I know we are currently under a hiring freeze, but the Bolivar/Sunflower NRCS cluster will be looking to fill a vacancy as quickly as we can advertise it. Whether or not you're interested in this particular agency, I would suggest going to usajobs.com and build your resume. Set up a couple agents to search for jobs in your field and it'll email you when openings are posted.

Farm and gin show is a good idea. Also sanders is expanding so now would be a good time to try to get on with them.

Keep an eye in the Delta Farm Press...they will advertise jobs from time to time and the companies that advertise could all be potential employers.
