Prayers needed for my dog

Postby greenheadgrimreaper » Thu Jan 03, 2013 9:23 pm

I found out today Angus has kidney failure. I don't know why it has happened and am going to get a second opinion tomorrow. I can't afford dialysis and MSU charges 3000 to get in the door for it. Anybody have any recommendations? Anything? In any case, please send up a prayer. Me and this dog have been many of a mile together, and anyone that knows him knows he is one of those few dogs that, other than pissin on your tire or crackin' a stankin' fart, that nearly everyone loves. And I have never seen another dog come close in the blind as far as hunting instinct and ability go. He makes me look in the duck blind and I don't have to do anything except say "gettem" or "dead bird". Hunting aside, we have been through some $#!+ together, and I don't think anyone can fathom how tight I am with this dog. We are attached at the hip- we do everything together. I can't imagine going without him, I simply cannot imagine. I am completely and totally and utterly nothing short of devastatingly crushed- and that pales in comparison to how I really feel. I have been bawling since I found this PM. I have lost close loved ones, and you had just as well broke the news to me they were going to die shortly. I am in shock.

I don't want another dog, I want Angus. Angus is the one, the one dog that a man gets in life and I have to lose him early at age 6. None will come close. I would give a million ducks in a million lifetimes.

Vet friend that I know says you need to find out what caused it. If its a toxin it could be flushed. If its lepto it can be treated with antibiotic. Some vets will call kidney failure when it's really not. Get blood pulled and find out what caused it and go from there. I hope he pulls through!!

Prayers sent, as someone made a post on here before saying, the greatest injustice of this life is that we are destined to outlive our dogs. Sure hope he pulls through, I've been where you are and will be there again with the dog I have now. Prayers for Angus.

Austin, we hope a 2nd opinion and some more extensive testing will improve the prognosis. Hang in there.
