Don't use brake parts cleaner.

I done gave up on it....About the first thing I want to do with a camo gun (OR ANY HUNTING GUN FOR THAT MATTER) is tie a rope behind the truck and tie it to the other end and drive a mile.

you can pretty much give up on that(the reason i will never buy camo only black or wood)..... but definitely dont have bug spray with deet on your hands in teal season or that camo will be history

I have had a camo SBE for ten years and never used anything on the exterior other than a little Rem-oil.

What about the Birchwood brand gun scrub, the one that says synthetic safe, and claims to be safe on camo?

The camo outside the gun doesn't need any oil or anything like that. Just keep that kind of stuff off it.
Like others have said, this is the reason I'll only by wood or black synthetic guns.

And on some of the guns, no matter what you do, the camo will fade/rub off because of the oils in your skin. What a crock.

Who gives a $#!+ if some of the finish rubs, it's a damn duck gun, you don't buy it to pass down, you buy it to wear out and get another one

No deet for sure, I don't put anything on the exterior of my sx3. The camp doesn't need oil just clean the innards of the gun. I have used the birch woods gun scrubber and it didn't peel the dura touch. I didn't press my luck though I just break it down so nothing gets on the stock.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

I don't do camo guns. By the time something has a chance to see my gun it's either dead or I'm not shooting it.

Deltadukman - don't bother commenting on my shooting skill or we will have to discuss those "extra heavy" duck loads.

I realize some people "dont like" or "dont do" camo guns, But when hunting in salt water it helps prevent rust, which happens quick. Thanks for the people who actually have a camo gun for the tips on taking care of the camo finish!

I have a SX2 in shadowgrass with duratouch. Deet will eat the duratouch as stated. I use rem oil to cleanup the barrel and exterior of the action.

I had an SBE II and the camo was rubbing off just from pulling it in and out of the gun case. I just don't think it's made to hold up very well.
