Ask DS: Gas Grill
Guys,
I need to buy a new gas grill. I don't want a built in, but something that I can roll around easily. I have looked at the following: Home Depot.....they seem to have $200 grills that are crap and $800 grills that seemed too high for what they were. High's Heater and Grill......They had Bubba's grills for $1,100 and broilmaster for about that same that seemed to be well made. Any other ideas? I know about the eggs, but I want a gas for speed and convenience. Thanks ahead!!

Those $300-$400 charbroil what they call "stainless" grills are garbage. I keep mine covered and in 1 year the "stainless" is all rusted and discolored and the internals are falling apart. Complete garbage. I think Ducane has a rollable model that is really nice.

back in may i bought a new grill at lowes, it is charcoal on one side and gas on the other, does a great job and you can buy a smoker box for the charcoal side extra, rolls good and no rust so far, i do not put a cover on it but i roll it out up under covered deck, seems like i gave 299

check out academy sports when you get ready to buy one. they have some deals on grills.
I've come to the realization that 3-4 years is all you are going to get out of a grill that is used alot.

60% of the time, it works every time.

IMO, Weber Grills are the best. You will notice the difference in quality.

might keep an eye out at the krogers around town. They had a weber combo grill over the summer that was gas and charcoal for 350-399 range that looked pretty good. They usually reduce the price around this time of year as the season has changed so that might be a good buy.

Re: Ask DS: Gas Grill
I have one of the Char Grill or whatever from Lowes, stainless with cast iron grates. About 6 years old and while the 4" painted skirt around the bottom rusted within about a week it seems, the stainless part still looks like new. This grill was about $200 but it cooks very evenly and the cast iron grates are the shizzle. Easy to keep clean and they have seasoned to where food doesn't stick.
It has some drip guards over the burners and they work about as well as those on a Weber. Not perfect but sure does help.

Re: Ask DS: Gas Grill
Gas grills have gone down in quality big time I the past three years. Anything under $400 will probably only last you a few years. If you want something to last buy a Weber. If you don't want to spend that much buy in the $200-300 range and replace in a few years. You used to be able to get a great gas grill for $300-400 but not anymore.

I've posted before about the Cajun Smokin Grills, we sell a good many, the quality can't be touched IMO. I'll give a "ducksouth discount" to any ducksouthers wanting one, just pm me.
we also sell some of the premium weber's, good grills too, and easy to get replacement parts.

Although Im a Weber fan ($99, last a long time, coals ready in 10 minutes and capable of cooking burgers or smoking turkeys) for gas grills, contact a natural gas distributer
