Finally got one..

Postby bulldog ducker » Mon Jan 16, 2012 8:42 am

Hunted a pipeline in north west MS sunday morning and saw 5 different 8s chasing about 8:30. One was big but he was in and out of the pipeline so fast I couldnt get a shot. Saw the deer chase back across the pipeline about 150 yards up but didnt see the big 8. About 10 min later this guy comes in and I see the long g2s and I convinced myself that it was the bigger one I saw earlier... it wasn't. Well like cwink said they shrink sometimes. Anyway I am proud of this deer and he is getting dropped off today for a skull mount.

Yours didn't shrink as much as mine did.. :D :D those cold water creeks cause more shrinkage.. Congrats on a good buck.

When it is cold I usually gut em then let em hang for a while but it was 65 degrees by the time the pic was taken. I field dressed it where i killed it and drove 2 1/2 hours to a buddies place in Canton to clean and quarter. Took the meat to sportmans. Figured I would give them a try. The skull mount is being done by Pittman (sp) you can leave it at sportsmans for 75 bucks and pick it up there when he is done.

Doubt I will get up there before deer season is over but I am going to come up there for a long weekend to turkey hunt when the season opens. You should come up to the farm with me.
