Bass my 6 year old caught last week.

Postby coonman » Sun Jun 27, 2010 4:23 pm

My 6 year old was visiting my parents in Mississippi this week and caught this fish in their pond.

It weighed 11.8 lbs. Needless to say we went straight to the taxidermist with it.

Its about a 2 acre pond and he was using a zebco 33 that my mom bought him. I think 10lb or 12lb test. I had took him to town that morning bought him some minnows, crickets, corks, and hooks. I bought some of the little gold crappie hooks thinking he might just catch a few small bass and perch little did I know he would hook that thing. We saw the fish swim by us a couple times, but wouldn't hit anything. We ended up moving down a little ways getting in the shade and the first cast back to where we saw the fish he hooked him. My mom was standing there watching and said it wasn't that big until the fish jumped completely out the water she said oh my I will go get the net, and the rest is pretty much history.

Well, that just ruined bass fishing for him for the rest of his life... That picture is priceless. Congrats to the little man.

It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I'm pretty sure he's "hooked" for life. Way to get the youngins fishing and enjoying life. He might just be the next Reese or Iaconelli.

Awesome, he'll remember that fish from now on!!!!! I know cause I lost one in the 5 lb. range when I was 5. I cried and cried till my dad walked over with a 3 lb fish he had on, shook it loose, and told me even the best fishermen lose one every once in a while. We were fishing the Wrights pond that is now covered by the Marina on the Hinds Co. side of the Rez.

He is still on cloud 9. I have the picture on my phone and he will just take my phone and show anyone. We were at the St Louis Cardinals game monday night and he had to show everyone that was sitting around us. Last night he showed everyone at his baseball game. Can't wait to get it back from the Taxidermist.
