In my third year now and I wouldn't change a thing. Its nice not working for the man, but you never leave work. When you go out hunting your thinking about what dollar your missing unlike that salary job, but its well worth it. Best of luck.

Are you up to speed on vmware and virtualization, btw? I think it is the next huge wave in IT. Probably a billion will be spent in consulting fees by firms developing on this architecture...

My first year was one of the best, know why??........FEAR! I had a new baby and a wife that barely made enough money to buy a few groceries. Fear will make you get off yourr booty and hustle, it'll make you knock on new doors and ASK for business that you would have never asked for before, and it'll also turn you into a networkin' junkie. Cultivate your network, I found out very quickly that the more business you do....the more business you do, does that make sense? But beware, you'll prolly make more money in the first two quarters than you did in a whole year at the old job. If you're not careful that can lead to over-confidence and complacency. Remember where you started, stay hungry and motivated and it'll be the best decision you ever made, good luck!

You guys said it. It is definitely scary and has had me hustling all week with no end in sight. I can see now the line between work and life is blurred. Like you said it is going to be hard to go hunting if I know it's causing me to miss out on some work and money.
