Guide suggestions for NW MS or Delta

Postby ducktrooper » Wed Jan 13, 2010 9:52 am

I'm looking to take a couple friends hunting in areas holding birds. I've had some great hunts in the past in Crowder area. Does anyone know of reputable guides in the $150-$175 range? I don't care to spend much more than that. Thanks.s

I would suggest Tallahatchie hunts, it may be a lil more but worth it, they got ducks and are good people.

Would love to have your business, but right now I would call Bolton @ 662-392-0740 with Tallahatchie hunts. We are still locked up. I hope the fields thaw by the weekend.

Have to disagree on David Melton...hunted 3 days with him last year. Asked for a non-guided hunt and he sent an awfull guide with us that screwed up the hunt. Also stuck us in a blind with a buddy of his and his kid had mallards working early and they were on the levy smoking cigagettes and shooting the bull. Awfull experience..oh yeah and no ducks.

Why would you try to slam someone like that? I've been on Davids place before and couldnt say a single word bad about him nor his operation he runs. A friend hunts there also and havent heard a single thing bad from him either.

Sounds like you have your little panties in a wad and just trying to stir something up. Oh yea also if you did have a bad experience with David why didnt you bring it to his attention? Always heard he makes sure all hunters are happy. He cant guaranteee you that your going to kill your limit in a certain amount of time either, no place can. If you want that then go somewhere that raises and releases them and they basically come and sit in the blind with you. Dont worry either, if you dont hit them 1st time then they will circle back around 2-3 more times.
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.

if you asked for a nonguided hunt then why did you agree to allow someone to go guide you? I dont know David but I do know this is the first bad thing I have heard about him. I was guiding some folks this past weekend in a freaking downpour and they got mad and left. We killed 25 ducks the day before and 22 the day before that but by 7:30 they hadnt shot any MALLARDS so they demanded to be taken back to their trucks. Nevermind that a duck would have had to have windshield wipers to fly. Nevermind all the hard work that went into the scouting, hunting etc. Some people are never satisfied...... If you have a problem with an outfitter you should take it up with him and not bash him on the internet.

We tried to lease a pit for Saturday and Sunday...which is what we were told we had done on the phone. When we arrived Saturday AM to get directions to the pit he stuck a guide with us against our will and stuck us in a blind with 4 other ppl who didn't care about hunting, screwed off and killed any chance at the few early birds we saw. The second day the same story. Stuck around because we don't get to go every wknd, old friends i don't see much. I'm not bashing the guy just sharing info on a bad experience we had.
