Watch dem snakes!

Postby hencutter » Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:28 pm

Wife got hit on her toe last night around 10 :30 in the front yard. Came home from the Emergency room this morning. Her foot is swollen, toe is black, and in a lot of pain, even with meds. Most likely a small copperhead, the fang marks were not too far apart, and we have killed a ton of them over the years in the yard.It has been really dry here, and we have watered the flower beds close to the house a lot, which most likely has drawn insects, which draws frogs, which draws snakes!

Dad killed about a 3 foot copper head off the back porch a couple of months ago so they put some moth balls around the house, they stink but no snakes.

We ran over a 3.5' rattlesnake in the middle of a campground at Enid Lake over the weekend. It was crossing the road right after dark. What if you crawled up in a tent to find a rattlesnake as your bed partner. Thank goodness we are in a camper.

I ran into about ten mocassins in one spot yesterday putting in a pipe for a duck pond. They were everywhere.
