Youth Hunt Fun

Postby HDC » Mon Feb 03, 2003 7:56 am

Report from my youth hunt on Saturday morning:

7 yr. old with single shot .410 - 28 rounds fired, 2 dead Gads, one winged down fast swimming Greenhead, and several birds with fewer feathers than they had when they came in the hole

10 yr. old with pump .20 - 60 rounds fired, 5 dead Gads, two winged fast swimming Gads, and more birds with fewer feathers than they had when they came in the hole

All shots were at flyiing birds(no skillet shots), except those taken at cripples on the water.

It was incredible! My place is covered up with birds, and every water hole I saw driving down the road was covered. We had at least 25 groups decoy straight into the dekes, and the boys fired away. Who says late season birds don't decoy well?

It sure is hard to kill those cripples with .410 Bismuth and .20 Steel.

Man, that's awesome. Y'all sure got a lot of shooting in. It's amazing what a week of no shooting pressure will do to calm the nerves of the ducks.

Great report!!
