Any body heard......

Postby DrakeDemon » Wed Feb 14, 2007 10:16 pm

That Mahanna is going to be a draw hunt next year? I was talking to an area managing warding today and he was saying that he helped out with some part of budgeting with Mahanna, Pin Oaks, and Muscadine and asked me if I had hunted any of them and which ones I liked the best. Well I explained to him the first time that I went to Mahanna I was in fear for my own life!!!! Because of all the people that decided to set up within gun range of me and my spread and he said well you shouldn't have to worry about that next year. Now this is just what he told me......."Get you name in the hat because next year it is going to be draw only like muscadine." He did not give any details about days as far as if it would be the Wed., Sat, hunts or what. Maybe more details will fall out later, or maybe they already have and I just haven't seen them.

I'm sure someone will post up that knows a little more than myself to clear things up.

me and a few other guys on the fourm have talked to lee several times (mahanna manager ) and he says it wont happen. the only time a draw is needed there is opening weekend. after that there might be 20 hunters on a good day. so i dont think it is from what i have been told. the only way to make mahanna better is to go to a 15-25 shell limit and stick to it. they used to have a 25 shell limit but didnt stay with it. another way you could possibly control mahanna is to allow only so many hunters in a impound but that would be to hard. i understand what you say about fearing for your life. its tuff. but i hope they dont go draw b/c i like to hunt there and you always have birds.

just my 2 cents

I believe it is 2000 acres, but understood it to become part of Mahannah or at least be on the draw as well.
