Trailer tires?

Postby missed mallards » Tue Feb 02, 2016 4:41 pm

Pulling a 16' tandem axle.

What brand are yall running on your trailers? This year I ran through 3 and was curious what everyone else was using. 5-10k a year on a trailer tire didn't seem like much.

205/75/r15.

Are your current tires wearing evenly?

depends on weight may be an option. Marathon and be done if 14 -15 inch tires.

Blow outs and flats or just wear? Standard 4 ply trailer tire does not cut it for us. Go for 8 or 10 ply and it will pay for itself in long run.

I bought some 8 ply that were a lower end Chinese brand in that size for a trailer I had a few years back that seemed to do a lot better than the original 6 ply. Can't remember the brand but there were only a few 8 ply options in that size. If you can step up to the 225 size I think that opens a lot more options for heavier rated tires. Heavier rated tires always seem to wear better because of less heat in my experience, I would put name brand secondary to weight rating

My trailer came with 4 ply bias tires. Hate them. I'm replacing them one at a time as they die with 8 ply steel belted radials. Forget the brand / model.
