Real Estate License ????

I'm thinking seriously about getting my real estate license and eventually brokers license. I've looked into the courses for preparing for the exam. My broker friend tells me to take the class in person to get the best result. Problem with that is it's two weeks of class, and the closest one is 100 miles from me. So, not wanting to take two weeks straight off work, it looks like I'm stuck with online route.
Has anyone taken the course online and been successful? I'm afraid it's probably going to be my only option to get the pre-training that's required.
