Meat Eater tv show
Y'all watched this? Pretty neat. Tonight he was hunting elk in reclaimed Kentucky coal mines. He ended the show by field dressing a bull and cooking on a camp stove the liver with mushrooms he pulled off of a stump, right there at the carcass.
Pretty interesting show. I saw the end of one episode where it looked like he was baking a deer head.

Saw one where he deep fried bear meat in bear fat and hoped his cardiologist wasn't watching.

Steven Rinella. He's a true bad ass that roughs it for the sake of roughing it. I hold him in high regard.
"For we were there together, you and I, though perhaps a thousand or so miles apart. In the wild fowler's way we were together to break the ice, to slog the mud and to witness the daily explosion of sunlight..while prudent men slept safe and warm."

I like the show, despite his insistence that ALL parts of the animal can make good table fare. I appreciate the fact that he uses his show to promote the positive aspects of the hunting and conservation communties and goes out of his way to explain to the non-hunting among us why we do what we do. It's also one of the few shows I can watch and not feel like I'm watching a nascar driver hosted infomercial.

My favorite show on TV.

Re: Meat Eater tv show
This is about the only show I will watch. He roughs it, kills it, cleans it, and eats it. There are no promos on the beautiful lodge, no infomercial for 7 sponsors, etc.
There will be a day....

Re: Meat Eater tv show
It is bar known the best hunting show on television. I have read one of his books as well, which is equally as good. He hunts to hunt and does not take short cuts. His show is also not a 30 minute info-mercial for the latest rattling horns or ozonic scent control device. He doesn't look like he is "climaxing" when he makes a kill. He does not rack hunt...he meat hunts in awesome locations and prepares great meals with his kills.
Another show that is just about as good is Solo Hunters. Actually, more specifically, it is equally as good when Remi Warren is the featured hunter. Last week he hunted big horn sheep on Nevada public land after having applied for 16 years to finally get a tag. He scouted for tens days prior to the season to locate the exact sheep he wanted to kill while filming himself - no other camera men.

Re: Meat Eater tv show
I like the show where he does the whole hog cook.
He cures a boneless ham.
Does Head cheese
makes his own sausage - utilizing the pigs casings
Very good show - He even cooked some coyote meat once and ate it.
I liked it when he hunted in Alaska for ducks and did a spatchcock style roasted over a fire.

The Javelina episode tripped me out. He boiled the meat in the stomach of the pig with hot rocks. Dude definitely comes up with creative ways of cooking.
