Bees Swarming
The building where our office is has bees swarming all around it. Anyone know who or what is the best way to get them gone. Several tenants in the building so they are concerned. I cant locate an exact "nest" but its a bunch of dang bees. Several hundred.
Re: Bees Swarming
local bee keeper maybe? or exterminator? used to be able to find local bee keepers in the farm bulletin i think.

Re: Bees Swarming
Where's your office? My office building has the same problem. Honey bees AND carpenter (bumble) bees. Seeing as how I am very allergic to them, I have to dance around these infernal creatures just to get to and from my truck.
Nobody owes you anything.

BBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I think we have a bee keeper coming. I've been trying to figure out where they are coming out of and they are just swarming. I want to just smoke them before some ninja gets stung and we have a frivolous lawsuit on our hands.

Re: Bees Swarming
I think they swarm just before they build a hive. so there may not be a hive yet, but could be in a few days.

Re: Bees Swarming
My dad has several hives. What has happened is a new queen has been born and she is leaving the hive. Some of the hive has followed her and some will stay with the original hive. You can get them to congregate by banging a cooking pot with a spoon for a few minutes. Works every time. They will more than likely start on a limb and stay a few hours then be on their way. You will have to stand amongst them to do this though...
Re: Bees Swarming
^no really...hes not joking!! Only time ive seen it happen, a guy drove a wooden stake into the ground and started hitting it with another stake and sure enough they gathered up on a tree limb
Re: Bees Swarming
Ha, I'm dead serious. Don't worry about them getting you. They just seem mad right now because there are so many flying around.

Re: Bees Swarming
Been thunderstorming all morning. Yesterday afternoon they weren't swarming as bad. It's a metal building, brick exterior, with a drop acoustical ceiling. Bees all in the lights, like 100 or so between 6 lights. I've been looking all up in the ceiling trying to see if I can find them to no avail. My guess is they are between the bricks and whatever kind of buffer is between the bricks and studs. I just haven't found them or where they are coming and going from. Rain has stopped so I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Re: Bees Swarming
Sounds like they are in the wall. ....u will find them in light fixtures because they are drawn to the light. They wont be aggressive while swarming, just appear that way. Honeybees are our state insect and should be protected...without them are crops suffer. 95% of the time they wont sting you unless you are threatening their hive.....leaving them alone will mostly result in them leaving. You will notice more activity on hot days and if they have taken up residence in your building then contact a local beekeeper to come get them....
