Re: New Grill opinions
Ceramic grill of any kind, my dad has an egg, I have a bayou classic. In my opinion the hardware is a little better on mine, the accessories are a little cheaper on mine too, but they both cook pretty much the same. You can do anything with them, get them to 600 to sear meat or set them at desired temp and walk away for hours cooking your favorite BBQ or slow cooked meat. Best cooking utinsil at my house is the grill. Plus there is minimal metal on them to rust out or corrode after several years. Can't remember how many grill bottoms I rusted out before.

Bayou classic cypress... Got one 3 weeks ago and love it. $300 or so cheaper than he comparable egg. Ceramics are not like other charcoal grills you can be ready to cook in 10 min.

Spend $100 and get a weber kettle grill and spend the rest of the money on some high quality meat.

Big green egg. Its a little more than $750 but it will be the last grill you ever need to buy. You also save money on charcoal. I can cook about 7-10 times on 1 bag.

Re: New Grill opinions
I just buy the $100 gas grill every 3-4 years and chunk the old one when it finally rusts out. And I don't even try to take care of them and they last that long. Nicer grills are nice obviously but the little cheapo works just fine too. Would I turn down a ceramic grill....heck no

Re: New Grill opinions
Have had a Weber gas grill for better than 15 years now. Have replaced most of the parts on it and still going. I know the ceramics are nice but just can't seem to get away from the convenience of turning a knob and pushing a button. Probably do need to update though.

Just saw the Bayou Classic at Lowe's for $699. Got it on my list as well.
Son, be sure to check the oil. The gas will take care of itself. George Carter - Circa 1965
