Re: Ask DS- Which 3/4 Ton Truck???
I have a 2012 dodge 3/4 diesel Laramie, I've put 60k on it in the last 10 months, it does rather well on fuel mileage, but its had some issues with the infamous "death wobble" that is common to solid front axles, other than that i love it (changed out the ball joints and stabilizer shock under warranty got it right). it rides better than the fords I've been in, and it will pull the stink off a dead man and stop it too. Fords are a fine looking truck(probably the best looking imho), but this one for the money was a no brainer.

Depends, are you considering new or used? If used, how old??
Re: Ask DS- Which 3/4 Ton Truck???
I have no experience with the dodge but had an 09 Chevy and have a 2012 f250 now. I know the new Chevy is nicer than the one I had but I did like the one I had. I had it for almost 3 years and put almost 50,000 miles on it. I did have a couple of minor warranty claims. Defect in bumper, broke part in dash, and a universal joint. The f250 does ride better and has more features than the duramax I had. They both get similar mileage and plenty of power. I like the ford better but both are good trucks. I have friends that have had the duramax with no problems.

Re: Ask DS- Which 3/4 Ton Truck???
I've been very happy with my dodge. First one ive owned. It gets similar fuel economy to my old gas burner gm 1/2 tons. Ride is fair... About what you'd expect from a 3/4 to strait axle. Very easy to do routine maintenance on as far as getting to everything .
I also liked my old ford I had (gas burner). Just wanted to stay away from the 6.0 and 6.4 motors when I upgraded.
I would buy a Dodge again tommorow , and I wouldn't have any reservations about a 6.7 ford
But after the last gmcs I had... Will not buy another one

I have a Dodge Mega Cab and LOVE it. I went from a single cab truck to this mega cab and it is unreal. That being said a 5.7 Hemi will EAT some gas.

My $0.02 is, it's all personal preference. I don;t know enough about MPG or the torque / HP of each to speak intelligently about it.
Chevy / GMC - the fit and finish on the interior is nicer. quiet smooth ride. I like the looks of the truck better than the F150 or Ram 1500.
Ford - Good fit and finish. F250 was actually my first choice, but got talked out of it since I don't really need a 250.
Dodge (which is actually just Ram now, they dropped the dodge name all together on trucks) - Is cheaper horsepower. but seems built like a beer can. never been in one that wasn't noisy.

Ok,.....
Chevy Duramax is the way to go for new.
I drive an '09 F250. Plenty of power, typical fuel mileage, very nice ride. Interior is better built than Chevy.
It's actually for sale, because I want an older F250 with the 7.3 that I have my eye on....

I would have to take a very close look at new Fords versus Chevy in the 3/4 ton range.....From everything I know, the Duramax wins.
Dodge = great motor...crappy everything else...I personally wouldn't consider a dodge.
