Re: Tent camping in the cold

Ahhhh winter tent camping, the best. I tried summer camping, once, never again. Two commandments of tent camping, 1) Everyone must have a toothbrush and toothpaste. 2) Don't spill your Gatorade piss bottle. I can make just about anything edible on a Coleman stove, I had to put my skills to the test ...

Re: Arrowheads hunters beware of where you hunt

It appears the youngest was 29 so they knew better than to bring buckets and shovels.

Not tourist beachcombers.

Pretty stiff sentence though.

Re: Vegas shooting

When the voices in someones head get really loud, I guess they switch to crazy. Their is no real defense to this type of attack either, that really bothers me. A Nutburger on the high ground raining lead from afar, run or find cover? What else is there? Bringing a handgun to a fully automatic rifle ...

Re: Making Room in the Freezer - Duck on Grill

Good Lordy, just call me Benny as I start replying to my own posts.

The Allegro marinade was WAY better than the Italian Zesty. Next time I may just use soy and no bacon, makes the process way simpler, and cheaper. We ate most of the Allegro marinated duck before it made it to the gumbo.

Making Room in the Freezer - Duck on Grill

Marinated Mallards, the one on the left was marinated with the Allegro Game marinade (mostly soy sauce), the other two were in Italian salad dressing. Next step is wrap in bacon and put on grill & smoke. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/thumbs/Duckmarinated.JPG Fire on the right, seems to work pr...

They Need Us In Houston

They were calling for anyone with a boat to lend a hand. I was watching the news, with a reporter at one "boat ramp", which was just a low spot on the interstate. Several good ole boys just showing up, slinging it off the trailer and going, wearing t-shirts and life jackets. The official s...

Re: Lets Talk 20 gauges

I bought a Weatherby 20 Gauge 3" last year. While it is a Turkish made gun (similar to Stoeger, Tr-star) but it has all the parts polished out, great fit and finish. :) I bought the synthetic stock model. It did great on doves last year in brutally hot dusty conditions, and did just as well las...

Summer - Lawnmower Thoughts

Many mowers and decades ago we were renting a house with a small yard and we had a hand-me-down old push mower. My wife was going to be a sport and cut the grass. She knew enough about engines to know oil was important. She called me at work to inform me she was going to cut the grass but after taki...

Re: Caribbean vacations

Must be something about Belize. A friend of mine just got back from a cruise that stopped there for a couple of days. He and his wife signed up for every shore adventure/trip that there was, and couldn't get enough of of it. They had never been there before but are ready to go back. I can't even rem...

Re: Life jacket question

I always wear mine, I feel pretty safe and don't take many chances. That's me, but what the main concern is all the other crazy mofo's that are running late or popping a top at wide open throttle, not concerned about what's around the bend. :x That's reason enough to wear two. Then again, sometimes ...

Re: Best brand appliances

The wife and I just went through this process. Maybe I can save you a million mouse clicks, as we waded through prices, brands, online reviews etc. We are 60 days into a Whirlpool WRF5555SDFZ01, 25 cubic foot bottom freezer. We feel like the Rockefellars, as we no longer have to get on our knees to ...

Re: Making You Guys The Experts and Couple of Questions

I've been thinking about this, lot's of readers but few suggestions, so I'll contribute something. I believe a resource for finding real info on new atvs/vehicles would be a plus for at least half the members, maybe more. I say half, just guessing that half buy new, while half shop used. If this can...

Re: Truck talk

Yes the cost is insane. I looked at a truck on the dealers lot a few months back (a use Corvette was for sale, but it was an automatic) the truck was way north of $60,000 and didn't even have wheel well fender liners. Huh? I looked around and non of them did, must be an option now? :? Try to buy a f...

Re: Help me understand why

Everybody has to make a stand these days, probably a lefty who thinks "He ain't my president so this ain't my pledge". I would like to be an internet bad ass and say that if he was sitting beside me, he'd be getting up, but a scuffle at a kids event, well probably a bad idea to take MY sta...
