Re: Few w/o weed guards

Beautiful flies. As warm as it is, my bass are still in shallow water, hitting on top.

Re: TOP 10 (lower 48)

Doc, I know you said Lower 48, but I am going to suggest Alaska as an ultimate bucket list waterfowling destination. I have killed black brant, Canada geese, mallards, pintails, teal, widgeon, harlequins, oldsquaw, whitewing scoter, black scoter, bufflehead, common goldeneye, greater scaup and sever...

Re: ONE OF THE GREAT ONES: CANTON

As a duck hunter who is owned by two Chesapeakes, this story was especially meaningful to me. Canton was obviously one of the great ones. The agony of losing her will ease someday, but you will always remember the great times you shared.

Go with Wildfowler's recommendation and look no further. I am not jealous of anyone, but if I was, it would be over their shop.

Re: Gun Dipping Metro Area?

Isn't that new gun going to look a bit odd after it's camo-dipped?

Re: Rubber boots

I have been wearing Lacrosse Grange boots turkey hunting for over twenty years and love them. The price is right, too.

Re: Time to hunt rocks

I love to hunt for arrowheads. With this rain coming, I have plans to hit a good field in the next few days - after several years of no-till, it was recently disked and should be productive.

Re: Religious Liberty Law

What about the widespread "discrimination" against legally licensed gun carriers? We have all seen signs prohibiting guns in various businesses and other public buildings. Why is there no outcry against a blatant violation of our Second Amendment rights, which are some of the most sacred ...

Re: Wind Out of The East......

One of our many ancient duck hunting proverbs: the wind is our friend. It all comes down to the right location for the existing breeze. I have one location that can be hunted on any wind, though the setup varies with the conditions. Other spots are good only under certain winds.

Is Benny still around somewhere? I know that some on here had issues with him, but I always found his tirades to be very entertaining.

Re: Unwritten rules

Interesting questions. I would shoot #1 because he was "called to the gun," as we say. Interestingly, in my many years of turkey hunting, I have never once had a decent opportunity shoot a gobbler off the roost. I won't say I wouldn't shoot #2 under any circumstances, but I have passed up ...

Re: Bluewings everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!

didn't accidentally have a #9 popper in hand? Few years ago while turkey hunting the delta I had a dozen or so fully plumed BWT sitting with in rock throwing distance from me. It was so hard to not take just one home for the wall. But better judgment got the best of me. I had the same experience la...
