Cohen...and what has to change

Saw this post on Facebook and it had some very good comments following. Cohen is here for at least the 2016 season, never the less with a very hot seat. So you are sitting there as the AD having this 'rubber meets the road" conversation with Cohen about what is expected of MSU baseball in 2016....

Re: MS Baseball 2015

I think Cohen/Thompson just got too comfortable in the fact that BBCOR bats and tall seams on balls would allow you to throw to contact and play great defense to win very low scoring baseball games with a run here or there. That mentality is certainly what they have recruited for, won some with in t...

Re: Anybody remember the final straw for Croom?

Oh I agree with you bustercat on a lot of those points. Expectations are high and Cohen needs to improve or move on. I am not a big fan of the big change planned at Dudy Noble.....some of it yes and some of it no.

Re: Anybody remember the final straw for Croom?

4 players in 2007 weighed under 185....and one of those was sweet hitting Jeffery Rea. 15 players in 2015 weigh under 185 and several more just 5-10 lbs heavier, very few position guys over 200. I can go with the thought that smaller may mean quicker and more agile, probably an edge on defense. Quic...

Re: Anybody remember the final straw for Croom?

I do not think Cohen is on any type of hot seat, but he better recruit some diversity in skill sets if he wants to compete from here on out. Bigwater has brought up 2 very good points...except for Rea, our team is a bunch of clones. They are .265 hitters who play great defense and have lots of speed...

Re: MS Baseball 2015

Scholarship numbers are a HUGE deal in baseball...why do you think Polk ran himself in the ground fighting for more. Lottery states have a big advantage. Schools like MSU and UM can not give full scholarships to players because there is only...what 11 to give. A lot of half scholarships maybe. Got t...

Re: cost per acre to plant rice

Wingman is right, the fertilizer is your highest input cost. I am not as familiar with the newest rice varieties being planted right now, but the seeding rate is lower than when I was growing rice. For a duck plot, your ideal planting date is much later than commercial grown rice. I would think some...

Re: cost per acre to plant rice

A lot of variables come into play with rice and WHERE it is being grown. Is it a brake you are drawing down and planting into which will probably hold a lot of moisture and offer some above average natural fertility? Is it a field that has been cropped for long time? Is it an impoundment like the on...
