Framing the side frames
Ripped the boards into 1 1/2" wide.
Used the kreg jig to hold everything while the glue cures
The FRP is laid out to be sure the seams at 8' falls on a rib. I didn't want the seam in the middle since that's where the most arch is. The laps will be on opposite ends.

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foot
I spent Saturday getting the shop back in working order - i don't do anything but hunt during the season so it was a wreck. I have made some progress - been testing some different materials, and different adhesives. using mostly plastics of different types i had to do some testing with glues and sea...

Re: BOAT TRAILER AXLE FAILURE RANT!! ANGER & FURY
Chances are is that your axle is not properly lined up with your trailer, causing friction and wear prematurely in the bearings.
the narrower the trailer - the easier it is to get it lined up.
Also larger tires and lower air pressure helps with the rough roads.

Re: Duck Band Rules
i would literally slap that guy and tell him to go home - he doesn't even deserve to carry a gun. my 5 year old daughter takes rejection better than that, and if she acted like that - she knows she would get her but tore up.... they sound like a bunch of Hillary supporters. this is why i mainly hunt...

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foots
Using trim coil is interesting. Gonna add my $.02. Back in the 70s worked with some building contractor brothers in Gulfport that were building them outa 1/4"x 14' marine plywood with compound miter wooden block ends and 1x2s routered slipped down on the sides and for the side/bottom laps. The...

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foots
I've looked at the foam built boats and they have there place. but I really want a pirogue - something that is really easy to paddle. the shape and design of the pirogue is what makes it a great shallow water craft for paddling. one man and a dog and some gear. anyone that has ever sat in a pirogue ...

Re: Super light pirogue - 17lb 14 foots
Link? Is this it? http://sawdustfactory.nfshost.com/herbc/ that is it. the weight doesn't have anything to do with the stability of it. flare the sides 30 degrees and make it 25-30" wide and i think it would be really steady. here is my plan. i'm going to use PVC lumber ripped to 1 1/2" x...

I've got a predator 212 that is hopped up a little bit. probably a 12-15 hp
its a long tail - go devil type frame.
i'd sell it for $700.00 cranks and runs like a champ.....
pushes y 14' semi V with two adults a gear about 12 MPH

Re: Corn Pile
Speaking of corn, were any of you listening to the JT show yesterday while they were discussing this? I didn't catch the beginning, but some folks were claiming that deer harvest has decreased since the latest baiting law passed. They claimed it caused deer to become nocturnal. Not sure I buy that....

Re: 233 rechambering to 300 AAC
the twist rate would not matter. the bore of the rifle would have to be drilled out and new rifling added - you could add what ever twist rate you want.......
