Re: help on christmas list

HSS. Get him a lifeline as well. I got the ultralite but would opt for the vest now. It has several pockets on the front.

Re: 7 mag ammo

Nosler Partitions. I have switched from Federal Premium 150 BTSP b/c I was never getting an exit hole. Might have trouble finding Federal Premiums though. Spoke to the owner of a place in Troy today, he said Federal Premiums have not been shipped all year. He had some NP's but quite pricey at $60/box.

Re: YOUTH KILLS

That's awesome. Neat rack for a 1st deer. How much did he weigh? He looks to be 180+.

Hunter Safety Lifeline

I purchased a couple of these for lockons. Fairly pricey at $40 each. Anybody made their own? Looks like it would be simple to replicate. Any ideas of the type of rope to use?

Breaking in SS barrel

Trying to site in my .22-250 Pro Hunter (SS 28" barrel) this afternoon. Not grouping like I expect shooting from lead sled. I remember my uncle telling me many years back that SS barrels must be "broken in." Any advice/recs?

Re: Safety harness

I just bought a HSS Ultralite. Very easy to use. Comes with an instructional DVD. I have been pleased with it but I would get the vest if purchasing again. Would be nice to have the pockets for range finder, etc.

thermacell

I bought a bow this year and plan to start hunting with it. Need something to the mosquitoes away in the swamp. On amazon, there is an earth scent thermacell. What is the difference from a regular thermacell? Any advice or other ideas for repellents appreciated.

Summer Food Plots

Got a used two row planter to plant some soybeans and corn this summer. Anyone have any advice recommendations on planting time, fertilizer, when to Roundup, etc? Got roundup ready seed. For food plots is it really worth spraying?

Half-ton diesel

Anybody in the market for a half-ton diesel? Ram is about to make your wish come true. Hopefully this will spur Ford and GM to offer diesels as well.

Re: rental propery?

If you make the plunge, run a credit check on tenant. Make sure you're not getting a squatter. Consider having the tenant fix anything less than $50 so you don't get bothered by little stuff.

Re: rabbit recipies

Fried cottontails are excellent. If you get some big canecutters, you'll need to slow cook them. Tried frying some canecutters once, inedible. Woundedduck has some good rabbit recipes.

Re: New York City

I was there a few weeks ago. Did the Met, Rockefellar Center, Rockettes, Lion King. Definitely check out the Beretta store on Madison Ave. Not very big but I enjoyed salivating over the guns on the 3rd floor.

Re: cell phone plans

I bought a prepaid Verizon phone b/c ATT service is not good. Phone is $10-15 and plans are pretty cheap. Works well for me at the deer camp. Available at Wal-Mart and BestBuy.
