Re: State of the Migration
Deltamud77 I think you are right on, and isn't it ironic that the "environmental movement" won back in 2008 when they got the EPA to veto the YBWP project, and now the biggest environmental disaster that the South Delta has ever seen lays solely at the hands of the "environmental move...

Re: State of the Migration
I have been hunting ducks in the South Delta for 43 seasons and IMHO the biggest change has been due to Group IV soybeans. 40 years ago the soybean harvest was usually getting started in late October and continued on in to November and was usually complete by the first of December, or thereabouts. T...

Re: Cindy Hyde Smith - Duck Season Ends Jan.31
I'm glad to see it. It was back in the 90's when Governor Kirk Fordice refused to sign off on USF&W purchasing land for the Tallahatchie NWR unless they gave us the later season, that we got the last Sunday in January, from the old mid January closing dates. As a veteran, I am VERY glad to see t...

yeah, no $#!+ f the corp
So, hntrpat1, are you blaming the Corps of Engineers for all of this rain?
Just wondering your take on what they have to do with the extraordinary amount of rain we have received here and throughout the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys?

Re: Browning Citori ???
Hey Get-N-Right, One other thing about hunting with your new Citori......at first, you are probably going to be a little anxious about only having 2 shots. In short order, I found that I was a lot more focused on my shots, and thus shooting an o/u made me a lot better shot. Yeah there have been a fe...

Re: Browning Citori ???
With 2 weeks left in the '82-'83 duck season, the extractor pin broke on my Remington 870 Wing Master, and the gunsmith told me it would take 3 weeks to get the part in, so I started looking at the guns in his rack. I bought a Citori that looked exactly like what you have. Yeah, this may be a "...

Wildfowler, this is a special election to fill Cochran's term after he retired, so there are no primaries.

Re: Wet Food Plot
Give it a week to dry out, it will still retain ample moisture to germinate seed, and then plant and cover and be done with it.

Re: Do you think MS Flyway is shifting West?
I don't really have any experience with Oklahoma, Missouri, or any other location north or west of us, but I do have about 42 years of experience chasing ducks around the Miss Delta, and I have most definitely noticed a change in how the ducks use the Miss Delta. My philosophy is that the change is ...

Re: CWD found in MS delta.
Yeah, I was there along with about 300 others, which I guess was a pretty good turnout. The speakers were a PHD Vet with the Nat'l Park Service, the CWD leader for Arkansas, and Russ Walsh, the Wildlife Executive Staff Officer with MDWF&P, and then a panel open to questions with various Miss off...

Re: Flooding
The levee at Mahannah was built by Anderson-Tully years ago and was just an internal levee on that property. The backwater started overtopping it a week or so ago, and it breached on Saturday. The only effect that it will have is that Mahannah is now flooded all the way to the front gate. The levee ...

There should plenty of talk about CWD tonight in Vicksburg at 6:30 at the convention center at a meeting hosted by the MDWF&P to give the public the facts and updates.

Re: Yazoo Backwater Pump back in the news
If I remember correctly, it was back in about April of 2008 when the last big public meeting was held at the Vicksburg Convention Center, and all of the environmentalists were in town from California, Oregon, Etc., and the Yazoo Backwater was flooding at about 90', and they were all talking about ho...
