I had a feeling that welding it wouldn't work. I am thinking about drilling and tapping a hole directly on top of the Key Way. The idea is when I tighten the bolt it will hold the key way in the key way groove.

Does this sound like it would work?

I have a 5 hp Long tail and the keyed shaft of the motor is wallowed out and the yoke has spun on the shaft making the key way slot shallower than it should be.
