Re: ADS - Waders
I've had some good waders over the years. Too bad they change about every 5-6 years, but it's usually because of improvements, or marketing needs. The best ones were made by Converse, then Red Ball, then Hodgman, but they all got bought-out by somebody else. I had a pair of Mack's (can't remember wh...

Re: ADS- shotgun reloading cost
Naw, He was really talking about folks that could load your ammo for you. Plus, to me reloading isnt so much about saveing money, its about doing it myself and pride in my abilities. Yeah, it's more of a therapeutic/aerobic activity for me, now ..........I've gotten past the point that it'...

Re: This place is all but dead.....
I have safety pins on the waist adjuster tabs because they won't stay where you put them. The you try to thread a belt through the loops at the adjuster tabs and they are not adjusted any more. PLUS, they put the 'pull' end of the tabs to where you have to pull it toward your back to tighten them up...

Re: ADS- shotgun reloading cost
I did the math years ago and you had to load 1000 rounds (2 500 round cases of shells) to pay for the equipment. But that was before components went out of sight, before haz-mat fees on shipping, and buying everything in bulk. That was also before MEC Grabbers when to almost $400. I know buying in b...

Re: This place is all but dead.....
Since when did ducks start barking? No, still using a modified Haydel's DSR-88 in a Olt D-2 barrel. The reeds must be 20 years old. The Haydel's barrel that holds the reeds, wedge and tone board split on both sides a few years back, so I drilled holes at the end of the splits to keep them fro...

Re: This place is all but dead.....
I can't speak for everybody else, but I've been duck hunting every chance I get. Time to 'do'....not 'talk'. ......and of what I'm 'doing', it's become my policy not to 'talk' about it until I'm 'done'. .......and I can't post photos of my blind because I'm still working on it between hunt...

Re: Filson
I got a wool jacket/liner and a wool vest/liner. I wear one or the other with the coat in Canada and without the coat for casual wear.
I think you would be happy with any of the 3 liners available even though I can't speak about the moleskin.

Re: Ask DS: trim fluid leaking?
Dusty knows his stuff and is reasonable in his pricing. He does all our work I can't do myself. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I've known him and his parents since he was a teenager. Will (his Dad) took our motor in during duck season a few years ago. I glanced a floater with the prop and ...

Re: COLD weather?
Next significant weather event will start just after Christmas (around the 28th). We probably won't see the affects until first of January, but then another blast hits SK in the first week of January.......minus 14 for lows up there. Usuallly, we get some of that dip in the jet stream and get a few ...

In our case, we're not seeing the proportion of wood ducks to other ducks that we usually have in the past (this time of the season).

I suppose it would depend on what the inside of your house smells like.

Re: ask DS - Dog kennel question...
Re: the stink..... Ideally you would have a trough on 2 sides (the lower side) that connect ('Y' or 'long sweep') - that the 'wash' would drain int. Then you could flush it away from the kennels and put lime where 'that' dumps-out........provided that's not in your neighbors' back yard. I'm not cert...

Re: Shotguns: Camo or Not?
Here's the transition I made in '98..........wood (with camo tape) to black synthetic. http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz360/Anatidae1/Duckguns_zps613361cd.jpg?t=1417494224 Interesting how things have change in the last 47 years. http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/zz360/Anatidae1/11159702_...

Re: Puppy question - crate training
They are puppies. It's not necessarily what's convenient for us as owners, as it is for what kind of commitment we make when we decided to get a puppy.......knowing what a 'joy' some parts of raising them can be. Don't blame it on the breeder or what kind of job they did raising the litter. We had t...
